Breakfast-shmekfast

Why is the most important meal of the day often the unhealthiest? What can you do to make breakfast a nutritional powerhouse instead of a carbohydrate-laden sugar buzz?

In just a few short weeks the Holidays will be upon us!  What are you going to do this season to keep yourself healthy and ward off the holiday pounds, exhaustion, cold and flu?  

Breakfast is a great place to start to set yourself up for a healthy day and a healthy holiday season.

Unfortunately, when I ask people what they eat for breakfast I generally get the same handful of answers: toast, cereal, bagel, muffin.  Of course: these are “breakfast foods.”  Or so we’ve been taught throughout out lives, but why?

Once upon a time these foods were significantly closer to “real food” than what we eat today.  But today these so called “breakfast foods” are nutritional shadows of their former selves.
