WATCH: Gladys Avenue Home Condemned, Demolished
Citing structural issues and a safety hazard to the neighborhood, the city started the demolition of the home at 1214 Gladys Avenue on Wednesday. The rest of the demolition is expected to take place this week.
The home at 1214 Gladys Avenue that was deemed a nuisance, condemned and taken over by the city earlier this year was demolished on Wednesday.
In January, city officials received a tip that that the roof was caving in. After entering the building, city officials deemed it an immediate safety hazard and removed the homeowner from the property.
The homeowner lost the appeal in Lakewood Municipal Court in February.
