WATCH: Abandoned Boarding House Demolished on Madison Avenue

And on Monday, finished its demolition.

The city hopes to sell the land for a future development.

The property — once the home of Rockwood Subs and Suds — came with a price tag of $35,000, paid for with the city’s economic development fund.

At 15 rooms, it was the largest boarding house in the city. But for the last few years, the vacant and dilapidated structure had been plagued by foreclosure.

“Now we’re going to work on selling that property for a development site, which is the long-term plan,” said Dru Siley, the city’s director of planning and development. “In the short-term, the criminal nuisance and the nuisance to the neighborhood is gone. And the neighborhood is better for that already.”
