Three File for At-Large Council Seat in Lakewood

Several other seats — including mayor's post — to go unchallenged during this fall's election.

Three people are vying for one at-large seat on , and two are running for the Ward 1 seat.

But the other posts up for election — including the mayor's job — will go unchallenged this fall during during September's non-partisan primary election.

Friday's filing deadline — when candidates were required to file with signed petitions — came and went without too much fanfare.

The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections approved all of the submissions.

The race for the lone at-large council seat will feature Ryan Nowlin, who was to finish the term of Nickie Antonio after she was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives; John Zappala, a self-employed contractor; and Anthony Davis, the founder of LoveLakewood.com.

The contest for the Ward 1 council seat will feature David Anderson, in March, when ; and Patrick Metzger, who has a background in economic development and serves on the Lakewood Citizen Advisory Committee.

That's about where the contested races end.

Mayor Michael Summers — who was in December when then-mayor of Cuyahoga County — will run unopposed.

Ward 2 councilman Tom Bullock, Ward 3 councilman Shawn Juris and Ward 4 councilwoman Mary Louise Madigan will also run unopposed in November.
