Snapshot: Work Begins on Traffic Signal Replacement Project

Red and yellow spray-paint dots litter the sidewalks all along Detroit Avenue. 

They mark the future lines of cables that will lead to about 20 new traffic signals along Lakewood's main thoroughfare.

The plan, approved , is now under way to replace — and synchronize — the traffic signals.

Contractors from two companies split the project, each taking about 10 signals on Detroit Avenue.

will shoulder about 20 percent of the cost, and other agencies including the Federal Highway Administration and the Ohio Department of Transportation will pay the rest.
