Second Habitat Home Eyed in Lakewood

The project on Lakewood Avenue — the land originally considered for a new pocket park — is expected to have a similar design.

Although the actual drawings have not been presented to the city, Dru Siley, the city’s director of planning and development, expects them to be comparable to the Dowd Avenue home.

Among the few differences, he said, the Lakewood Avenue home would have a wrap-around porch and a larger lot.

Siley said both projects are expected to begin this year.

“The exciting part of that is that it was a long-standing nuisance property, that had been abandoned and the city demolished it,” he said. “It was a site of numerous police calls. We have the opportunity to build another single family home in a good location for a great family to own and live there.”
