Seven File for Three Seats on Lakewood School Board

School board vice president John Kamkutis has dropped out of the election, but president Matt Markling has yet to submit his withdrawal letter.

With three open seats and potentially seven candidates running, this could certainly be an interesting election for the . 

According to the Cuyahoga County’s Board of Elections final list, Kamkutis is not seeking re-election, but Markling still may run against the five new candidates as he has still not submitted his withdrawal letter, a Board of Election official said.

In July, made the unexpected announcement that he would not run for reelection, and he did not immediately return e-mails asking if he still planned to run.

He has until early September to issue the withdrawal letter.  

School board member Linda Beebe, whose seventh consecutive term expires on Dec. 31, will be vying for number eight this November.

The five new candidates are: Bill Call, Gregory Calleri, Tom Einhouse, Kristine Pagsuyoin and Emma Petrie-Barcelona. 

Election Day will take place this Nov. 8, and Lakewood’s residents will be able to cast ballots at several of the Lakewood City Schools to determine who will comprise the school board on January 1, 2012.
