Overnight Storm Drenches Lakewood

Few incidents of flooding reported around the city.

The overnight storm dumped lots of rain on Lakewood and melted a solid portion of the snow — but flooding in the city hasn’t been a major concern.

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for five counties in Northeast Ohio, but Cuyahoga wasn’t one of them.

Monday morning’s commute was slowed only slightly by the overnight rain.

Some streets were wetter than others, with more water on streets where debris got stuck in nearby catch basins, said Joe Beno, Lakewood’s director of public works.

“There was a huge amount of water that came down,” he said.

Beno said the department is aware of only a handful of residents who had minor flooding.

FirstEnergy’s online outage map indicated that, as of 10 a.m., 22 customers in Lakewood were without power.
