Sara Verderber, the chairperson for Meet the Trucks, said the event is a success each year — especially popular with the kids.

“I think that probably the most exciting part is that the kids are in and out of the trucks honking the horns,” she said. "At my house, the garbage day is an exciting day of the week because of the big garbage truck —  so for them to be able to touch the trucks is really cool.”

The Lakewood Early Childhood PTA is also offering crafts, face painting, a DJ, bounce houses, Jungle Bob and a bike raffle.

“We’ve got a good mix of Lakewood involvement, in addition to what the Lakewood Early Childhood PTA organizes,” Verderber said.

Organizations such as the , , , and others will have tables at the event. Some of them will offer children’s activities.  will also offer a Bike Repair Clinic.

Refreshments will be available.

Attendees are asked to bring a canned good, which will be donated to the — which serves as the city’s food bank.
