City launches its new Volunteer Initiative website.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to volunteer in Lakewood, you’re in luck.

The recently announced the launch of a new website for its Volunteer Initiative.

The goal of the website is to “match the enormous talent of Lakewood residents with the needs of community organizations,” according to a news release.

In addition, the site will also allow organizations to post their own volunteer opportunities.

“We are in a period of scarcity at all levels of government- Federal, State, and Local.” said Mayor Mike Summers in the news release. “If we expect to support many of the services and institutions we hold dear, we, as a community, each in our own way, will have to step forward in a meaningful way. Citizens in our very neighborhood may need assistance. As private citizens, we may be able to easily and effectively provide this assistance. Volunteer Lakewood is designed to help match citizens in need with citizens who can help.”
