Lakewood Building Department Adding a ‘City Architect’ Position

The new post will have the same pay grade as the city engineer — $69,000 to $87,000.

The city of Lakewood is creating a new position in the building department.

The new City Architect post will replace a vacancy created in the department with the retirement of assistant building commissioner Bob Apanasewicz.

The new post will have the same pay grade as the city engineer — $69,000 to $87,000.

“We wanted to bring a new building commissioner, but also wanted to bring in someone with an extensive design background to serve those duel purposes,” said Dru Siley, the director of building and housing.

In addition, the city is looking to fill a vacant inspector position.

Siley said the department will keep the same employee head count, at 12.

“The new role will provide some day-to-day leadership in the department,” Siley said, who added he will remain the head of the building department, as well as tending his duties as the director of planning and development.
