Fourth of July Celebration Planned in Lakewood

Block parties, more parties and some fireworks. Yeah, Lakewood knows how to party.

Lakewood knows how to throw a party. So, get ready for the city’s Fourth of July celebration.

The annual Independence Day parade is scheduled to step off at 10 a.m. July 4 near the intersection of Lake Avenue at Kenneth Drive.

The annual tradition will include a number of musical favorites including the Lakewood High School Ranger Marching Band, St. Edward High School Band, the Lochaber Pipe Band and Red Hackle Pipe Band.  

The July Fourth party doesn’t end with the parade.

Festivities will continue in Lakewood Park with games, food, activities and information provided by several of Lakewood’s community organizations. 

At 7 p.m., the legendary — ’s youth rock orchestra — will perform at the Bandstand at Lakewood Park. 

The city’s Fourth of July festivities will conclude with Lakewood's annual fireworks display — one of the area’s few remaining shows — at around 9:45 p.m.

Mickey Krivosh has been selected to serve as the Grand Marshal for the parade. 

Krivosh, who has owned  since 1974, recently bought  restaurant.

The 1970 LHS graduate is active in the participating in the , the Corn Hole Tournament for Pillars of Lakewood, the Halloween window painting contest and the new teacher’s luncheon.

“We are pleased to honor Mickey Krivosh for all he has given to the Lakewood community” Mayor Michael Summers said in a prepared statement.  “In addition to being a successful business owner in Lakewood, Mickey donates his time and talents to many community organizations. We are proud to have him serve as Grand Marshall of the Fourth of July Parade.”
