City Council Meets Today

Council may vote on adding "sharrows" to roadways for bicyclists, regulations for garage and yard sales.

The Lakewood City Council will hold a regular meeting at 7:30 this evening. On the agenda are ordinances to authorize the installation of "sharrows" on Detroit Avenue and regulations for garage and yard sales.

New items include an ordinance to improve management of storm water runoff; a feasibility study for hotel, banquet and bed-and-breakfast facilities in the city; and passing the tax budget for Fiscal Year 2013.

The bicyclist-friendly sharrows will run on Detroit from the intersection with Alameda in the east to the Bonnieview / Cordova intersection in the west in compliance with the City of Lakewood Bicycle Master Plan. While not intended to designate lanes exclusively for bicyclists, the sharrows remind motorists to share the road with bicycles.
