American Dream in Lakewood: Refugee Housing Program Unveiled

New partnership between the Cuyahoga County Land Bank and the International Services Center to provide housing to immigrants.

One lucky refugee family will get a shot at the American Dream in Lakewood.

That's thanks to a new partnership between the Cuyahoga County Land Bank and the International Services Center to provide housing to immigrants.

Along with the in attendance, the organizations unveiled the pilot project Wednesday at 1443 Hopkins Avenue in Lakewood — the first location of the program.

The home still needs some work, but it’s expected to be completed by the time a refugee family arrives by the end of January.

Several more homes — provided by the Land Bank — in Cuyahoga County will be used in the program, officials said.
