Woman Held Up at Gunpoint on Madison Avenue

The following arrest information was supplied by the Lakewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Attempted armed robbery

A 19-year woman told police that a man put a handgun to her side and told her that “if she screams, he will shoot,” as she walked home from work in the 12800 block of Madison Avenue at around 11:45 p.m. March 24. She did not turn over her purse or phone like the man demanded, and he fled on foot once he spotted a parked police car at the Ward 4 police ouptost. Officers were unable to locate the man. The woman told Lakewood Patch the incident was “very scary.”

Drunken driving

A man was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated following a traffic stop in the 18500 block of Detroit Avenue at around 12:30 a.m. March 22. 

Glass from storefront cuts man

A man cut himself after the storefront glass shattered at Breadsmith while he was leaning on it at around 2:20 a.m. March 22. The man refused to be transported to the hospital. 

Possible OD, leads to drug charges

After a man took an overdose of drugs, a woman was charged with corrupting another with drugs and possession of criminal in the 1400 block of Ridgewood Avenue at around 9 p.m. March 22. The man was charged with drug abuse.

Large fight

Police received a report of four men fighting in the 1200 block of Clifton Prado at around 3 a.m. March 23. One man was cited with disorderly conduct.

Attempted breaking and entering

For two nights in a row, there were incidents of attempted breaking and entering at the Italian Creations on Hilliard Road. On March 23, the manager of the business told police that there were pry mark on front door, indicating someone was trying to break in.

Shoplifting

A man was charged with theft, drug abuse and disorderly conduct after he was caught stealing items from aisle No. 5 of the Walgreens on Detroit Avenue at around 9 p.m. March 23.
