Want to Get Rid of Your Guns? The Police Can Help
The Lakewood Police Department is participating in mulit-community gun buy-back program.
Don’t take your guns to town.
OK, maybe this once.
Lakewood is partnering up with several area communities to host the Greater Cleveland 2011 Gun Buy-Back program.

The multi-community effort — including Lakewood, Cleveland, Euclid, Parma and Shaker Heights — will take place at several locations from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 17.
To participate, Lakewood residents are encouraged to bring an unloaded working handgun to the at 12650 Detroit Ave.

The gun must be in a clear plastic bag inside a second container and residents must carry the container in the trunk of their vehicle and pack any ammunition separately.
Incentives will be given for handguns only; however shotguns and rifles may also be turned in. According to a news release, in exchange for operable handguns — and while supplies last — citizens will receive a $100 gas, food, or Target gift card and Cavalier or Lake Erie Monster tickets.
Participants can also enter into a raffle with a chance to win up to $1,000.

- Euclid: Municipal Service Center, 25200 Lakeland Blvd.
- Parma: Justice Center, 5555 Powers Blvd.
- Shaker Heights: Police Headquarters, 3355 Lee Rd.
