He’s expected to face charges as well.

Because the home is within 1,000 feet of the elementary school, the severity of the suspected crimes increases.

Firefighters responded to a call around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday reporting that a man was on fire and had jumped out of a window of the home, but immediately upon arrival they suspected a meth lab.

Police were called and confirmed. Officers founded common household items used in the manufacture of meth, and a small set-up believed to be used for making the drug.

Police chief Timothy Malley said meth labs in Lakewood, are “not a common occurrence,” noting there has only be one other meth lab reported in Lakewood during the past five years.

“It definitely is a strange situation,” he said. "We certainly hope this is a pattern that doesn’t continue. We will stay on top it.”
