Six Strange Thefts Reported in One Day

July 30 was a weird day for the Lakewood Police Department. That's because there were a half-dozen reports of theft.

They were all minor thefts, but strange nonetheless. 

  1. Theft: A man was charged with petty theft after he pocketed two cans of beer in the Walgreens without paying for them at around 2:30 a.m. July 30.
  2. Motel heist? Jewelry was reported stolen from the Days Inn (12019 Lake Avenue) at around 10 a.m. July 30.
  3. Playstation stolen: A video game system and games were reported stolen from a home in the 1200 block of Andrews Avenue on July 30.
  4. Identity theft: A man in the 1400 block of Cordova Avenue told police that his identity was stolen on July 30.
  5. Alcohol stolen, returned: An employee at Sapell’s Bi-Rite told that he caught two men stealing bottles of alcohol at around 5:30 p.m. July 30. The employee caught up with the men, who returned the liquor.
  6. Stolen fruit: A man was caught trying to steal a piece of fruit from the Discount Drug Mart at around 7:15 p.m. July 30. The man paid for the fruit and was asked not to return.
