The Lakewood Fire Department and the US Coast Guard
ended a search for a body in the water off the shoreline of Lake Erie.
Fire Marshal Tim Dunphy said the search was called off Tuesday morning after they’d been combing area since Monday night.
“No body turned up,” he said.
Fire chief Scott Gilman told Lakewood Patch that the department got the call after 9 p.m. Monday night. A boy reported that he’d seen a lifeless body floating near the shoreline, hours before reporting the incident.
“We brought our boat in and we searched along the shoreline,” Gilman said.
The US Coast Guard flew a rescue helicopter in from Detroit, but it also called off its search.
