UPDATE: Man Charged in Rash of Car Break-Ins

The following arrest information was supplied by the Lakewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Car break-ins reported

A Lakewood man was charged with at least a few of the suspected car break-ins over the weekend.

The man, a resident of Woodward Avenue, confessed to the break-ins on Olive Avenue, said poice chief Timothy Malley, who added that the items were recovered and returned to the victims.

About 10 vehicles were reported broken into between Sept. 7 and Sept. 8. Most of the incidents occurred sometime during the night before. There were four car break-ins reported in the 2000 block of Olive Avenue; one in the 1600 block of Chesterland Avenue; one in the 1300 block of Kenilworth Avenue; and between two and five vehicles were broken into at during the afternoon of Sept. 7.

In one incident, a resident in the 2000 block of Olive Avenue told police that his garage had been broken into, reporting that his tools and golf clubs were stolen.

Woman cited for riding her bike on I-90

A woman was cited for riding her bike on Interstate 90, near the McKinley Avenue exit, at around 11:30 a.m. Sept. 6.

Foot ran over by pizza delivery driver

A man told police that a vehicle bearing the name of a Lakewood pizza joint ran over his foot in the 1300 block of Gladys Avenue at around 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6. The man was injured, but the extent of his injuries was not reported.

Grand theft

A motorcycle was reported stolen off the street in the 1600 block of Lauderdale Avenue at around 4 a.m. Sept. 6.

Obstructing official business

A woman was charged with obstructing official business in the 2000 block of Halstead Avenue at around 8 a.m. Sept. 6.

Caught smoking pot

A man and a woman were caught smoking marijuana behind the at around 1:30 p.m. Sept. 7. The woman was charged with dangerous drugs, but the man got away.

Drunken crash into Walgreens

A man drove his vehicle into the on W. 117th Street at around 4:40 p.m. Sept. 7. Police caught up with the man in the parking lot of the nearby , where he was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Minor damage was reported to the Walgreens. 

Another drunk driving crash

A man was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated after he crashed into a parked car in the 1500 block of Orchard Grove Avenue at around 12:05 a.m. Sept. 8.
