Radio Personality Fired After Drunken Driving Arrest

Chad Zumock was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated following a crash on Lake Avenue on Friday morning.

Comedian and radio personality Chad Zumock, who was charged with drunken driving after crashing his car into a tree on Lake Avenue on Friday, has been fired from his job at WMMS.

The 37-year-old co-host of the Alan Cox Show on WMMS, who lives just a couple blocks away from the incident, was not injured in the early morning crash. However, he refused to take a breathalyzer test.

Cleveland.com reported that Zumock’s arrest “voided a contract he had signed with Clear Channel Communications," the parent company of the radio station.

Alan Cox announced the news over the air on Monday.

Zumock was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, failure to control and a seatbelt violation.

His bond was set at 10 percent of $3,000, and he was released.

Zumock was also arrested in Kent in 2008 for drunken driving, prior to joining WMMS.

How long before Chad Zumock and Erich M. Burnett (deposed editor of Cleveland Scene) start a support groups for underachievers who got fired from jobs they never should have had in the first place?

WMMS proved that they don't know what the hell they are doing..... They fire Zumock from their highest rated show for an OVI where no one was injured but Deiter from Rover's (the 2nd highest rated show) said on air that someone get one of [his] friends to screw [his] daughter straight." Which could constitute rape. THis offense could have cost WMMS their license to broadcast, yet Dieter just got a slap on the wrist is all... Makes no sense

^makes perfect sense. Clear Channel (owner of WMMS) also distributes the Rush Limbaugh show, and they have made it clear that they think calling women "sluts" is OK.

That crossed my mind, too (although Chad's departure is certainly no loss). Good to see you addressed the lack of balance. If there's anything good to be said about Chad based on his on-air persona, it's that at least he represents that he's not a homophobe.

THIS MORON JUST DOESN'T GET IT. 2 DUI'S = SCUM. PEOPLE WHO DEFEND DRUNK DRIVERS ARE JUST AS BAD. YOU ARE A STUPID SELFISH INDIVIDUAL IF YOU DRIVE DRUNK. GOOD RIDDANCE TO THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE. THANKFULLY HE HIT A TREE AND NOT THE CAR OF A SOBER PERSON.

what a great picture of him, I hope he didn't have a dog to go home to and kick.!. why doesn't WMMS get rid of the show and drum roll please- play music like they used to?????? Clear channel politics at it finest, it's all about the bottom dollar.!

I love Chad and wish him the best!

No consistency at Clear Channel. They also own WMJI. I recall Lanigan being arrested for drunk driving after having a minor accident and refusing a breathalyzer test. Sounds familiar.

Will. What makes no sense is you comment about Deiter. "Someone get one of (his) friends to screw (his) daughter straight." What the heck does that mean? And who the heck are you talking about?
