Police Use Taser on Shoplifter

The following arrest information was supplied by the Lakewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Disorderly conduct

Officers used a Taser to subdue a man believed to have shoplifted from the Walgreens on Detroit Avenue at around 10:30 p.m. April 7. The man was fighting with an employee before police arrived. He fled west on Detroit Avenue, before officers caught up with him. He was charged with obstructing official business, possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct.

A woman was charged with theft after stealing another woman’s purse at the Cove United Methodist Church at around 9:30 a.m. April 7. 

Resisting arrest

A man was charged with disorderly conduct an altercation between he and another woman in the 1500 block of Cordova Avenue at around 1:15 a.m. April 5. However, he also faces a charge of resisting arrest after hassling the officers.

Assault

A man was charged with assault after punching another man in the face at the Quaker Steak and Lube restaurant at around 6:30 p.m. April 5. 

Shoplifting

A man who pocketed some cans of food from the Walgreens was arrested and charged with shoplifting at around 5 a.m. April 6, after briefly leading officers on a foot chase.

Tax check cashed

A man in the 2000 block of Elmwood Avenue told police that someone cashed his tax return check without permission on April 6.

Annoying solicitors

A woman in the 2100 block of Alger Road told police that solicitors “won’t stop ringing her doorbell” at around 7:30 p.m. April 6. Officers were unable to locate the annoying solicitors.
