Police: Three Burglaries In One Day Last Week Not Related

The following arrest information was supplied by the Lakewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Three burglaries in one day

Lakewood Police Chief Timothy Malley said that three burglaries in Lakewood last Tuesday weren’t related.

 The first burglary was reported in the 1500 block of Cordova Avenue at around 1:45 p.m. “Numerous items” were reported missing.

A couple of hours later, a resident of an apartment in the 1400 block of Waterbury Avenue told police that a cell phone were stolen from the home.

And at 11:30 p.m., a resident in the 2100 block of Bunts Road told police that someone entered her home through the kitchen window and stole her laptop computer and other items.

Criminal damaging

The garage of a home in the 2000 block of Waterbury Avenue was reported spray-painted at around 4 p.m. Feb. 29. The report joins a number of recent reports of criminal damaging in the area. Police continue the investigation.

Robbery… Not really a robbery

A man told police that another man tried to rob him of his wallet with a butcher knife in the 13400 block of Clifton Boulevard at around 9:45 p.m. Feb. 28. The man told police that the robber tried to stab him in the stomach, and slashed his wrist in the process. Turns out, the man made up the story. It’s unclear why.

Drug abuse

A man was charged for driving under suspension and drug abuse following a traffic stop in the 14800 block of Detroit Avenue at around 11:20 p.m. Feb. 28.

Following a traffic stop at the intersection of Cohassett and Detroit avenues, a man was charged with drug abuse at around 5 a.m. March 1.

Attempted kidnapping?

At around 7:30 a.m. March 1, a man told police that someone tried to pull him inside a vehicle near the intersection of Bonnieview and Detroit avenues earlier that morning. The man punched the motorist in the face and ran away. He told police he would have called earlier but was afraid.
