Police Respond to ‘Shots Fired' on Newman Avenue

The following arrest information was supplied by the Lakewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Disturbance on Newman Avenue

A man was taken into custody after call of “shots fired” in the 1400 block of Newman Avenue at around noon Dec. 31. Several police squads responded to the “psychiatric situation.” It’s not clear whether shots were actually fired, but the man was taken into custody.

Brick through the windshield

A man in the 14500 block of Garfield Avenue told police that someone threw a brick through the windshield of his vehicle at around 12:45 a.m. Dec. 29. Officers checked the area but couldn’t locate the brick thrower.

Fired (and angry) employee

An employee who was fired from his job at Kentucky Fried Chicken didn’t take the news very well. He stood outside the restaurant and yelling profanities and refusing to leave the property at around 4 p.m. Dec. 29. However, he was gone by the time officers arrived.

Shoplifting, then robbery charge

A man was arrested after shoplifting from the Walgreens on Detroit Avenue at around 11 p.m. Dec. 30. After putting up a fight during his arrest, he was also charged with robbery, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Domestic violence

A man was charged with domestic violence and having a weapon while under disabilities in the 1200 block of Donald Avenue at around 7 a.m. Dec. 31.
