Detectives from the Lakewood Police Department are
investigating two armed robberies that took place early Sunday morning.
Police believe the robberies are related, but no arrests have been made.
The first call came in at around 1 a.m. Sunday, near the intersection of Madison and Arthur avenues. Two men — one of them wielding a semi-automatic handgun — pushed another man to the ground and took his wallet.
The man was taken to Lakewood Hospital, but no serious injuries were reported.
Police were called a short time later with a report of a similar incident, at the corner of Mathews and Sloane avenues. This time, the robbers took the victim’s keys and cell phone.
“It looks like (the robberies) are related,” said Sgt. Steven Fioritto. “Everything seems pretty similar between the two of them.”
He said that there weren’t any solid leads as of Sunday evening, but police are continuing the investigation.
