Police Blotter: String of Thefts, Burglary and Rape Reported

This week in police news.

A string of thefts was reported by a half-dozen of homeowners in the morning of May 10. The residents told police that a thief broke into their cars sometime during the night. Four cars were ransacked in the 2100 block of Atkins Avenue; two in the 2100 block of Northland Avenue; two in the 1600 block of Woodward Avenue; two in the 1500 block of Wagar Avenue; and one in the 1500 block of Woodward Avenue. Among the items stolen were an iPod, money, sunglasses, a purse and a sweater. The vehicles were all unlocked.

Two bikes were reported stolen from a garage in the 19000 block of Detroit Avenue at 7:30 p.m. May 9.

A man in the 15100 block of Clifton Boulevard told police that he found a man in his cellar stealing scrap metal at around 7:30 a.m. May 11. The suspect took off out of the house, running westbound.

About five people in the 1300 block of Clarence Avenue squared off for a fight around 1:30 a.m. May 12. The disagreement started over laundry.

A man was charged with disorderly conduct after he stole a stop sign from the intersection of Warren Road and Victoria Court at around 2 a.m. May 12.

A car was reported stolen from the 1400 block of Newman Avenue at 9 a.m. May 12.

A woman in the 2000 block of Bunts Avenue told police that her landlord threatened her after she said she was going to report him to the building department for a bed bug infestation.

A women in the 2000 block of Robin Avenue told police that she was raped May 12. She told police she knew her attacker. The woman was taken to MetroHealth hospital where she was treated and released. Police are investigating.

A resident in the 12300 block of Plover Street was cited for owning a pit bull on May 12.
