Police Blotter: Street Fight; Drug Charges; and Burglary

The following arrest information was supplied by the Lakewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Fight in the street

Police received a call that there were about 10 people fighting in the middle of Detroit Avenue, near Hird Avenue, at around 1:30 a.m. Sept. 4. When officers arrived, there wasn’t anyone around.

Crash, drugs

A woman called police from a car at around 3 a.m. Sept. 4 to report that the man she was with struck a utility pole in the 2000 block of Warren Road. When officers showed up, they arrested and charged both of them with drug abuse. The man was also cited for the crash.

Skateboard bandit

A man told police that a man punched him in the face and took his skateboard at around 6:45 p.m. Sept. 4 in the 2100 block of Waterbury Avenue. The skateboard bandit was last spotted running toward the RTA station on W. 117th Street. 

Theft

A woman in the told police that she keeps $300 to $400 in a bag next to her when she sleeps. She said that the money was stolen from her Sept. 3 while she was sleeping. 

Copper pipes stolen

A resident in the 17400 block of Lake Avenue reported that a burglar broke in the back door and stole copper piping from the home on Sept. 5. 

Drunken driving

A woman was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and open container after she was stopped in the 1500 block of Wagar Avenue at around 8 p.m. Hours before, the vehicle was reported driving in and out of traffic on Interstate 90, nearly causing “several accidents.”
