Police Blotter: Robbery; Breaking and Entering; and an Unwelcome Surprise

The following arrest information was supplied by the Lakewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Unwelcome morning surprise

A woman in the 1600 block of Westwood Avenue went to her car around 7:45 a.m. June 28 and found a man asleep in it. The man took off on foot. Nothing was reported stolen, but the man left behind a bag of clothes and a shoe.

Breaking and entering

A man was charged with breaking and entering June 28 after a resident of Belle Avenue saw him go into a neighbor’s garage and steal a bicycle. Police caught up with the man moments later near the intersection of Belle and Detroit avenues.

Rocks thrown at passing cars

Police got a call at around 1 a.m. June 29 that people near the intersection of Bunts Road and Athens Avenue were throwing rocks at passing cars. Police were not able to locate the suspects.

Charges follow traffic stop

Three men were arrested following a traffic stop in the early morning of June 29 and charged with obstructing official business. The driver was also charged with drug abuse and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

After police attempted to stop the vehicle at Northland and Madison avenues at around 3:30 a.m., the driver continued — before eventually stopping at the Silvercoast Apartments.

One of the passengers took off on foot, while the officers held the other suspects at gunpoint. Police eventually caught up with the third suspect and charged him with obstructing official business.

Marijuana found

Marijuana was found in one of the classrooms at on Clifton Blvd. on June 29. The complainant told police that someone has been entering the school during after hours.

Robbery

A man was robbed while walking in the 17300 block of Madison Avenue at around 1 a.m. June 30. Two men made off with the man’s computer, cell phone and wallet, then fled on foot north on Cordova Avenue. Police were unable to locate the suspects.

Woman threatened with barbed-wire-wrapped baseball bat

A woman in the told police that her boyfriend — who she said had been doing drugs — threatened her with a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire at around 9 a.m. June 30. She also said he’d been cutting himself on the head with razor blades. The man was taken to the hospital, and the woman was taken home to collect her belongings.

Theft

Police got a call June 30 that $830 was stolen at a business in the on Detroit Avenue.
