Police Blotter: Man Faces Charges After Assault on a Police Officer

The following arrest information was supplied by the Lakewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Assault on a police officer

A man faces a host of charges after he struck a police officer following a traffic stop at the intersection of W. 117th and Carbon streets at around 11 p.m. Jan. 2. He was charged with drug abuse, obstructing official business and assault on a police officer. Another man was charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

A woman in the 2000 Magee Avenue told police that her son assaulted her and took her car at around 11:30 a.m. Dec. 29. Police were unable to catch the man.

received a call about people duck hunting on the beach in the 800 block of Beach Road at around 4 p.m. Dec. 29. The animal warden took down the duck hunters’ information and would look into whether any laws were broken.

Drug abuse

A man was charged with drug abuse following a traffic stop in the 15550 block of Detroit Avenue at around 6 a.m. Dec. 30. 

Weapons offense

A man was charged with a weapons offense for carrying a knife following a traffic stop in the 12400 block of Detroit Avenue at around 12:30 p.m. Dec. 30. 

Drunken driving

A woman was charged with drunken driving after she nearly struck a pedestrian and drove through a yard in the 1500 block of Hopkins Avenue at around 1 a.m. Jan. 1. 

Pointing a gun at New Year’s Eve party

A man was arrested and charged with aggravated menacing and disorderly conduct after he got drunk and pointed a gun at people during a party in the 15500 block of Clifton Boulevard at around 3 a.m. Jan. 1.

Boulders in the road

Officers received a few calls in the early morning of Jan. 1 with reports of large rocks in the 1400 block of Lakeland Avenue and in the 16000 block of Madison Avenue. Officers removed them. No word on who dropped off the “boulders” in the street.

Grand theft auto reports

A vehicle was reported stolen from the parking lot of the in the 11900 block of Detroit Avenue at around 4 p.m. Jan. 1. Another car was reported stolen just a couple hours later from the 2100 block of Quail Avenue.
