Police Blotter: Inducing Panic; Arson; and an Alligator in Lakewood

The following arrest information was supplied by the Lakewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Inducing panic

A man was charged with inducing panic and possession of drug paraphernalia after he texted a woman in the that he was being held against his will at around 3 a.m. Dec. 6. The man made up the story and the woman called police.

A resident in the 1500 block Newman Avenue was cited with animal cruelty for keeping an alligator in the home at around 12:30 p.m. Dec. 6.

Arson

The police and fire departments responded to a report of a car on fire in the 1500 block of Olivewood Avenue at around 2:15 a.m. Dec. 7. The car was totally engulfed in flames, with flames shooting about 20 feet in the air. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, which was ruled arson. 

Disturbance

A man was arrested and charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct at the after “causing a problem” at around 2:45 a.m. Dec. 3.

Criminal damaging

A resident told police that someone threw a cinderblock at his car parked in the 1500 block of Coutant Avenue at around 3:45 p.m. Dec. 3.

Police warned about train robber

Officers got a call from the Cleveland Police Department at around 3:30 a.m. Dec. 4 asking them to be on the lookout for a man who had robbed two people on the RTA train.

Grand theft

A car was reported stolen from the Webb Cliff Apartments at 1285 West Clifton Avenue at around 9:45 a.m. Dec. 5.

Burglary

A man was charged with burglary after he tried to break into a woman’s apartment in the 11800 block of Lake Avenue at around 1 p.m. Dec. 6.
