Police Blotter: Cigarette Bandit Punches Cashier in the Face

The following arrest information was supplied by the Lakewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Cigarette robber

An employee at the on Clifton Boulevard told police that a man jumped over the counter, punched the cashier in the face and stole two cartons of cigarettes at around 12:20 a.m. Dec. 21. The man took off on foot. Officers were unable to locate him.

Solicitors or burglars?

A woman in the 1200 block of Bonnieview Avenue told police that two men came to the door, presumably as solicitors, at around 12:30 p.m. Dec. 20. However, when she didn’t answer the door, the men walked to the back of the home, where they attempted to enter through the backdoor. When the woman’s fiancé went to the door, the men took off on foot. Police were unable to catch up with them. 

Receving stolen property

Two men were arrested and charged with receiving stolen property after police stopped a stolen vehicle in the 1600 block of Winchester Avenue at around 2:45 p.m. Dec. 21. The animal warden was called because a pit bull mix was in the backseat of the vehicle.

Smoking marijuana

A woman called police regarding a “strong odor” of marijuana at her neighbor’s apartment at the Modern Apartments on Lake Avenue at around 8:30 p.m. Dec. 21. Police showed up and confirmed the odor, and charged the resident with drug abuse.

Gunshots reported

A resident in the 1500 block of Winchester Avenue reported hearing gunshots at around 12:30 a.m. Dec. 22.

Petty theft

A man was charged with shoplifting at the on Clifton Boulevard at around 8:30 a.m. Dec. 22.

You’ll shoot your eye out

Police received a call about two males outside of a home in the 1500 block of Hopkins Avenue at around 1:30 p.m. Dec. 22. When officers showed, up they found two boys with guns, but they turned out to be BB guns.
