Police Blotter: Brutal Attack; Burglary; and an Explosion Reported

The following arrest information was supplied by the Lakewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Woman attacked

A woman told police that a man attacked her as she was taking out the garbage at her home in the 14800 block of Hilliard Road at around 4 a.m. Oct. 2. The man grabbed her fro behind and began dragging her by her hair. The woman yelled for help and the man let her go. Police were unable to catch the suspect. 

Explosion reported

A resident in the 1300 block of Fry Avenue reported hearing a loud explosion at around 11:45 Sept. 29. Officers found no evidence of an explosion in the area.

Grand theft auto

A car was reported stolen from the parking lot at at 11851 Detroit Avenue at around 8 a.m. Sept. 30.

Burglary

On Sept. 30, a woman told police that someone broke into her apartment, in the 1400 block of Riverside Drive, and stole several items, including clothes, a computer and purses.

Petty theft and a chase

An employee at chased a man out of the store after he was caught shoplifting at around 1:49 p.m. Sept. 30. The suspected shoplifter took off on foot, but officers caught up with him later and charged him with petty theft.

Caught red-handed

A man who was a recent victim of burglary was at the on Detroit Avenue at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 30 when a man came into the store looking to sell or trade a video game system that was stolen from his home the week before. The man with the game system was charged with receiving stolen property.
