Police Blotter: Attack With a Hammer; Burglary; and a False Alarm

The following arrest information was supplied by the Lakewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Attack with a hammer

A man came to the police department to report that his neighbor had attacked him with a hammer at his home in the 1400 block of Hopkins Avenue at around 6 p.m. July 15. The neighbor was arrested and charged with assault.

Man charged for assaulting man and his mother

A man was arrested and charged with assault after he broke into the Plover Avenue home of a man and his mother and assaulted both of them at around 3 a.m. July 16. Police found the man an hour later on the roof of a home in the 17800 block of Riverside Avenue and took him into custody.

Burglary

A home in the 1300 block of Belle Avenue was burglarized in the evening of July 14.

Theft

A man was arrested and charged with theft for stealing watches and cosmetics from the on Clifton Boulevard at around 11:30 p.m. July 14.

Disorderly conduct

A man in the 2100 block of Atkins Avenue was warned after he was shoveling dirt and playing loud music in his backyard at around 3:15 a.m. July 15. When police returned less than 30 minutes later and he was still shoveling dirt, police charged him with disorderly conduct.

Drug abuse

A man and two women were charged with drug abuse and possession of hypodermic needles following a traffic stop near the on Madison Avenue at around 4 p.m. July 15.

False alarm

A man told police that he saw a sailboat on its side in Lake Erie about 100 feet from the shoreline at around noon July 16. The US Coast Guard responded, but the suspected sailboat turned out to be a large rock.
