Drinking, driving and fleeing

An alleged drunk driver was arrested and charged with driving a vehicle under the influence, fleeing police and driving a vehicle without an operator’s license March 19. Police tried to get the driver to pull over just before 2 a.m. near the intersection of Bonnieview and Lake avenues. Police said the man was traveling on Bonnieview at 6o mph. The chase was called off  after a few minutes, but the man stopped the car near Larchmont Avenue. Police caught up with the man at 2:16 a.m. in the 1600 block of Winton Avenue.

received a call around 2 a.m. March 18 about a woman being beat up by several men near Madison and Wyandotte avenues. When police arrived minutes later, the men were gone. The woman told police that she fell in the parking lot. She refused medical treatment.

Motor vehicle accident

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the parking lot on Detroit Avenue just before 3 p.m. March 20. The victim was taken to Fairview Hospital for treatment of unidentified injuries.

Another copper theft

A resident in the 2000 block of Brown Road told police March 21 that someone stripped the copper piping from the home.

Robbery

A man entered the on Detroit Avenue and told an employee at the counter that he was robbed at gunpoint by two men at 1:30 a.m. March 22. Just minutes later, officers caught up with one of the men matching the description. The other male — a juvenile — was seen jumping a fence two blocks west, but police caught up with him. Both of them were arrested and charged with robbery.
