Pedestrian Hit on Detroit Avenue Gets Escorted Out of City Hall

Disturbance: The 79-year-old man who was recently struck at the intersection of Manor Park and Detroit avenues was escorted out of city hall Sept. 3 after he showed up to complain that the driver who hit him wasn’t charged with a more serious offense. He refused to leave when asked, according to the report. He told city hall Tuesday that he concerned about who will pay for his medical bills.

Group of teens fighting: Police responded to a group of teenagers fighting in front of the Burger King on Detroit Avenue at around 10 p.m. Aug. 30. The fight started when one of them threw a rock at the head of another boy.

Stolen bike turns out to be prank: A man in the 13700 block of Madison Avenue told police that his bike was stolen at around 3 p.m. Aug. 31. Turns out, some of his friends were playing a prank on him.

Shoplifting: A man was charged with petty theft after stealing from the Discount Drug Mart at 13123 Detroit Avenue at around 7:45 p.m. Sept. 1.

Assault: A man was charged with assault after he struck another man in the face at a bar in the 13400 block of Madison Avenue at around 1 a.m. Sept. 3.

Deer hit: A motorist struck a deer at 1299 Scenic Park Drive at around 12:45 p.m. Sept. 2. The deer was killed and “disposed of.”
