Bad idea in cold weather

A man was asked to leave a bank on 117th Street, after he stood near the entrance Thursday morning — while wearing a ski mask and goggles. Police arrived and learned he was simply waiting for the bank to open, according to the report.

Police were called just after 3 a..m. Friday about a man standing in the middle of Detroit Avenue yelling. When officers arrived, he told police that he was upset because he couldn't get his cigarette lit. He was advised by police to discontinue the behavior and "sent on his way," according to the report.

Dog on the loose

Police received a call from a resident just before noon Thursday that a small dog was on the loose near the intersection of Beach and Detroit avenues. The animal warden was called and the dog was picked up and returned to its owner.

Lost, then found

Police responded to a call from a business in the 14000 block of Detroit Avenue, where the caller said his computer had been stolen from his unlocked vehicle Thursday evening. According to the report, the man's computer bag had was spotted just a few blocks away. His computer was inside, according to the report. 

Hit-skip

A man was charged with hit-skip, driving under suspension and operating a vehicle under the influence, after he allegedly fled the scene of a crash at the intersection of Northland and Margaret avenues early Thursday morning.

Theft

A home in the 2100 Dowd Avenue was broken into sometime on Friday. According to the report, an undisclosed amount of money and medication was taken. Police are investigating.
