Man Charged With Forgery After Using Counterfeit Money

Fake money: A man was charged with criminal simulation after using fake $50 bills at Corky’s Place on July 26. Officers stopped the man moments later on Waterbury Avenue and took him into custody.

Water main breaks: Police received reports of a “few different water main breaks” in the 14200 block of Lakewood Heights Boulevard at around 1:45 a.m. July 29.

Counterfeit $5 bill: Police received a report that someone paid with a fake $5 bill at Discount Drug Mart at around 5 p.m. July 29.

Theft from auto: A man in the 2100 block of Northland Avenue reported that his CD player and GPS were stolen from his car July 25.

Batter up? Police received a report that two men were fighting with a baseball bat in the 12500 Franklin Boulevard at around 8 p.m. July 25. Turns out, they were just arguing over a phone.

Attempted dine and dash? A man was charged with disorderly conduct after initially refusing to pay his tab at Quaker Steak and Lube at around 8 p.m. July 29.

Shoplifting: A man was charged with petty theft after shoplifting from the Walgreens on Detroit Avenue at around 11:45 p.m. July 27.

Missing dog: A toy fox terrier was reported missing from a home in the 1300 block of Beach Avenue at around 2:45 a.m. July 27.

Safe and sound: Police received a report that a 20-month-old baby was locked inside of a car at business in the 14000 block of Detroit Avenue at around 11:45 a.m. July 28, however the caller was able to get in the car with a coat hanger by the time officers arrived.

Attempted gutter theft: A woman in the 1100 block of St. Charles Avenue told police July 28 that someone tried stealing her gutters while she was away over the weekend.

Disorderly conduct: Two men were charged with disorderly conduct after they got into a fight at Angelo’s Pizza at around 10 p.m. July 28. One of them was also charged with criminal damaging.

Robbery: A man told police that he was robbed by three men — who took his wallet and MP3 player — near Madison Park at around 2:30 a.m. July 26. Officers later took two men into custody near Alameda and Madison avenues. Police are investigating.

Strange admission: A man told police July 26 that his hand and arm were swollen because he injected himself with heroin the day before. He was taken to the hospital.

Text messages from a sex offender: A resident in the 1500 block of Marlowe Avenue told police that his daughter was getting text messages from a sex offender on July 26.

Dog bite: A resident in the 1500 block of Mars Avenue told police that the family cat was killed after it was bitten by a dog at around 11:15 p.m. July 26.
