A 19-year-old Lakewood man,
who admitted throwing
his roommate’s dog against a door and killing it, was sentenced to six
months in jail.
Lakewood police charged Kyle Kushen with cruelty to animals — a second-degree misdemeanor — following the Aug. 26 incident.
He was accused of killing the miniature pinscher before placing it on a table at a home in the 1500 block of Wyandotte Avenue.
According to Fox 8, his roommate was not home during the incident.
Kushen reportedly told her that he found the dog (named Princess) dead after she was hit by a car. He changed his story, and the woman began to believe that he intentionally killed the dog.
After police noted inconsistencies in his story, Kushen admitted to killing the dog, pointing out that he was tired of cleaning up dog feces and urine, according to Fox 8.
Lakewood Municipal Court Judge Patrick Carroll sentenced him to 180 days in Cuyahoga County Jail, with two days suspended for time served, according to court records.
