Lakewood Girl Scouts Hoping to Recoup Cookie Money Stolen Last Week

Scouts hope make up losses of more than $1,100 to go on summer camping trip.

After the Brownies of Girl Scout Troop 192 in Lakewood had more than $1,100 in cookie sales stolen last week, they did what one might expect: They marched onward.

The scouts set up shop at the Walgreens at Kamms Corners on Sunday to try to recoup some of the from the troop leader's home Wednesday.

The girls are saving up money for a camping trip this summer.

The sold about $40 in cookies on Sunday, and received another $20 in donations.

Sarah Cheiky, a mother of one of the scouts, said they are confident they will still be able to go on the trip.

But they are asking the public for help.

"We've already had a nice response," Cheiky said. "We've already started receiving donations."
