Lakewood Fire, Coast Guard Search for Body in the Water

Officials called off the search for the night; expected to resume on Tuesday.

After searching for a “body in the water” in the darkness of Lake Erie for more than an hour, Lakewood firefighters called off the search at around 10:45 p.m. Monday.

However, the search along the shoreline is expected to resume at daybreak Tuesday.

“There were reports that someone saw a (lifeless) body in the water,” said fire chief Scott Gilman, adding that the call came in after 9 p.m.
