Extra police officers will be at Lakewood High School today after Lakewood Police learned of a rumor about threatened violence there, a police dispatcher said.

The threat, which had been spreading on social media, was that there would be a shooting at the school.

Christine Gordillo, spokeswoman for the district, said the Lakewood City Schools is aware of the rumors. Police have been investigating those rumors and have not been able to find any truth to them.
