Police Called on Hockey Match That Gets Heated

The following arrest information was supplied by the Lakewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Hockey match gets “physical”

Police responded to Winterhurst Ice Arena at around 8:30 a.m. Oct. 7 after parents were upset about the “physical play” of the kids on the ice. Officers gave some warnings and sent the parents on their way.

Jewelry stolen

A resident in the 1400 block of Waterbury Avenue reported jewelry missing from the home at around 6:10 p.m. Oct. 2.

Weapons offense

Police a 9-1-1 call and overheard someone in the 1300 block of Beach Avenue saying that someone was pointing a gun at around 3 a.m. Oct. 3. When police arrived, they arrested a man and charged him with unlawful transportation of weapons and disorderly conduct.

Stolen guitar

A man in the 1500 block of West Clifton Boulevard told police Oct. 3 that his guitar was stolen from his apartment the day before.

Drunken driving

A resident in the 2000 block of Atkins Avenue told police that a drunken man was knocking on the back door of the home at around 3 a.m. Oct. 4. The man drove away. But police caught up with the man and charged him with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. 

Dangerous drugs

A man was seen “stumbling around” and “lying in the middle of the street” near the Burger King on Madison Avenue at around 4 p.m. Oct. 4. Police charged the man with public intoxication and possession of a hypodermic needle.

Disturbance

Police received a call that two men were fighting in the middle of Detroit Avenue near the Chipotle restaurant at around 8:45 p.m. Oct. 4.

Acorns falling, not BB gunshots

A woman told police that she wanted to make a complaint about someone shooting BBs at her home in the 1400 block of Orchard Grove Avenue at around 11:30 p.m. Oct. 4. Officers determined that it was likely falling acorns causing the noises she was hearing — not BB gunshots.

Car break-ins

There were a few car break-ins reported on the morning of Oct. 13. Two of the incidents were reported in the 1300 block of Elbur Avenue; another in the 1300 block of Beach Avenue.

2-year-old boy found wandering the streets

Police received a call about a 2-year-old boy walking around on the street in the 12700 Plover Street at around 11:45 p.m. Oct. 5. EMS crews were sent to the scene, but the boy was not injured. He was returned to his home.
