Half-Dozen Arrested on St. Patrick’s Day in Lakewood

St. Patrick’s Day is known as big day for drinking alcohol.

That also signals non-stop action for Lakewood police officers.

“It’s a busy night for complaints of noise disturbances, revelers and partiers,” said chief Timothy Malley. “Overall it was better than it could be.”

There were about a half-dozen arrests, he said.

Malley said that the holiday fell on a Sunday, and that could’ve contributed to a calmer St. Patrick’s Day.

• Police charged two men with disorderly conduct following an early morning fight in the 1600 block of Cohassett Avenue. A short time later, at around 1 a.m., a man was charged with disorderly conduct following another fight in the 1200 block of Idlewood Avenue.
• There were several reports of “disturbances” according to police reports — many of them noise complaints. 
• A “highly intoxicated” woman fell and hit her head at a bar the 17000 block of Detroit Avenue at around 3:30 p.m. She was taken to Lakewood Hospital. 
• Another fight was reported a bar in the 17600 block of Detroit Avenue at around 4:45 p.m. A man was charged with disorderly conduct. 
• A man who was kicked out of a bar in the 16000 block of Detroit Avenue returned and kicked the door to the bar at around 5 p.m. But he was gone by the time officers showed up a few minutes later.
• Malley also said there were a “couple” charges of drunken driving issued on the holiday.

Kids “flipping over tables”

Police received a report that kids were “flipped over tables” in the pavilion at Madison Park at around 5:15 p.m. March 13.

Electricity theft

A man in the 1200 block of Fry Avenue told police on March 13 that his neighbor was stealing his electricity.

Grand theft

A vehicle was reported stolen from the 2100 block of Richland Avenue at around 9:15 p.m. March 13.
