Last week, a
56-year-old Cleveland man was charged with murdering a woman after her body
was discovered decomposing in the closet of an apartment at Elbur Manor on
It was the first — and only — alleged murder of 2013.
“This isn’t something that’s common in Lakewood,” said Lakewood police chief Timothy Malley.
“Generally, in the city of Lakewood, we don’t have too many cases where the causes of death are unnatural.”
The last incident was the Waterbury Road shooting in January 2012. In that case, several people were arrested and later found guilty on a host of charges.
Details are still emerging in the case of the Elbur Manor grisly discovery, however Johnny L. Johnson, of W. 117th Street, has been charged with murder, an unclassified felony.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner is still investigating the cause of death — and for a positive identification — and her name hasn’t yet been released.
Sources say she died from a blunt force trauma to the head, but police haven't confirmed that report.
