Father, Son Hit By Car on Way to School

Pedestrians taken to hospital after car struck them

On the morning of Feb. 25, a father and his 10-year-old son were walking to school when they were struck by a car while crossing Detroit Avenue near the intersection with Webb.

The collision broke the boy's leg and the father also had some minor injuries, according to the police report.

The driver — a 29-year-old woman from Cleveland — had a green light at the time of the crash. However, neither she nor the boy's father knew for certain if the walk/don't walk sign was illuminated, according to the police report.

The driver said she had not seen the people crossing the street.

A witness told police that the driver was going about 10 mph at the time of the crash.

The driver was cited on a count of not yielding to pedestrians in the crosswalk.

Storage locker plundered

A storage locker in the 14300 block of Detroit was broken into on Feb. 27 and $3,200 worth of cash and jewelry were stolen.

Theft from rental home

All of the appliances were stolen from a rental home on Feb. 27 in the 14300 block of Delaware.
