Update on RTA/Clifton Blvd. project

i decided to visit Lakewood City Hall and see if someone in Planning And Development could explain more fully what RTA has in mind.  The article in Wednesday's PD caused more questions, rather than explanations.

Jason Russell, a Project Specialist, was not only able to answer all my concerns, but he did so in a very friendly, courteous manner.

It turns out the street widening of Clifton Blvd. will occur only on the Cleveland side.  There will be no changes in parking on Clifton Blvd.  The rules that are in effect now, will remain the same.

As for buses having their own signal system, that remains to be seen, as Lakewood, only recently, spent big dollars on replacing poles and signal lights.

So, other than for redoing bus stops, which are in great need, the only big change affecting Clifton Blvd. is that the curb lane will be for buses only.  Traffic will be limited to 2 lanes, with buses having the curb lane (like on Superior and Euclid aves).

I still don't understand why RTA needs 60' buses for this area, but hopefully, it will see that it is a waste. So for now, Clifton Blvd. in Lakewood will remain the same.
