Take our poll, then share your thoughts in the comments.

This week, for a feasibility study to determine whether a hotel could thrive in our fair city.

Some of the discussions at have focused on capitalizing on some of the development in downtown Cleveland — think casino and Medical Mart — as well as the development along Detroit Avenue in Lakewood.

There’s already a on Clifton Boulevard, but city officials are also considering the possibility of attracting a “boutique hotel” to the city.

We thought Lakewood Patch readers would like to weigh in.

Do you think Lakewood needs more hotel options? If so, where? Take our poll, then share your thoughts in the comments.

I do think Lakewood could use a new hotel. The Days Inn has no amenities whatsoever. We need something upscale with some amenities, pool, exercise, banquet and meeting rooms and a restaurant. How about on the Gold Coast? We did have one years ago. We even had a Brown Derby Restaurant there. I loved it!

According to the Lakewood Patch directory, there are two hotels in Lakewood. Aside from the Days Inn on Lake, there is also a Travel Lodge on Edgewater with 50 rooms. Maybe what is needed is a "facelift" to these two facilities. Hotels get makeovers. Personally, I think Lakewood has an opportunity to open B&Bs or use a whole block of empty storefronts/second floor apts close to downtown (i.e corner of Marlowe & Detroit) to create a high scale B&B. I recently read that a developper converted a church into a hotel in Wooster. How many empty churches do we have? How about converting some of those empty school buildings? How about taking a whole row of doubles (i.e. next to Lakewood HS stadium) and converting those into B&Bs? The possiblities are endless as long as the investor has deep pockets.
