Edwin E. Allen, 91, Owned Allen Pump Co.

Former Lakewood resident belonged to Church of the Ascension.

Edwin Earl Allen owned Allen Pump Co., an industrial pump distribution firm based in Lakewood, for 25 years.

 The former Lakewood resident, 91, died Feb. 22 at .

 Allen , who was born Dec. 21, 1919, in Evansville, IN, graduated from DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. He was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.

 During World War II, he served as a communications specialist with the Navy in the Asiatic-Pacific theater of operations as well as in Washington, DC.

 Allen, a member of , bowled in the church bowling league and golfed in the Sweetbriar Men’s League.

 He especially liked Big Band and other types of  music from the 1940s, dancing and playing bridge.

 His wife, Mary Carolyn “Connie” (nee Conrad), died in 2002 after 60 years of marriage.

 Allen is survived by his son, Douglas of Cuyahoga Falls; daughters, Martye of Lake Nebagamon, WI, and Joan Fowle of Avon Lake; five grandchildren; and siblings, Bill, Cecil, Bud, Virginia Wurm, Lois and Dolly Spector.

 A memorial service will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 27, at , 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake, with the Rev. Kelly Brill of Avon Lake United Church of Christ officiating.
