Lakewood Public Works Workers Really Work Well for Lakewood

A moment of appreciation for the hard working Lakewood Public Works Department

I took a walk very early this Friday morning to beat the heat and head down to Lakewood Park. Except for the snow fencing still up which was intended to keep the crowds safely away from the danger of the fireworks (ok so maybe we'll have to wait for next year for that) one would never know that thousands of 4th of July celebrants had spent the day picnicking in the park. And what was the reason one would never know? Because the park was incredibly clean and tidy thanks to our awesome public works staff- this week's unsung heroes. They worked hard to get the park ready for the July 4th celebration and then just as diligently in providing  the clean-up after.

Many of you know I've been working to get more care and attention for Edgewater Park which is currently under the care of the State of Ohio. Lately there has been much dismay at the slow start and lack of dedicated resources and maintenance of Edgewater Park. Improvements have recently come following a public outcry.

Our public parks play such an important role in our daily lives and their stewardship is so important to the health, safety and enjoyment of these natural wonders. Its up to all of us to do our part and be responsible because  we can never take our resources nor our workers for granted. So I suggest the next time you see a member of the Lakewood Public Works crew-  say thank you for all that they do, because their work insures that we can continue to enjoy our beautiful  parks. Thanks Public Works Crew for working for Lakewood!!
