Emergency Surgery for Sophie an All Dogs' Heaven Foster Dog

Our foster dog, Sophie, from All Dogs' Heaven is in urgent need of surgery to remove mammary tumors. The tumors are at risk of bursting and will be removed on Tuesday morning. She will also be spayed and have her teeth cleaned. The surgery will cost between $420-$530. We are in need of donations to cover the cost of her surgery.

Sophie was dropped off a kill shelter in southern Ohio but was rescued by All Dogs' Heaven special needs dog rescue right here in Lakewood. For the first 14 years of her life she lived with an elderly woman. She unfortunately died, and didn't take proper care of Sophie near the end. Five pounds of matted, painful hair was removed from her revealing two large mammary tumors. This was probably caused by a combination of skin trauma caused by the prolonged matting and that she was never spayed. Sophie's tumors have recently gotten worse and are at risk of bursting. Other than the tumors, the vet gave her a clean bill of health and will preform the surgery Tuesday 10/23/12. The surgery will be preformed by Dr. Debra Wigal of Bartels and Busack Pet Hospital and will cost between $420 and $530.
